How did I start my golfing career: I was inspired to play golf from my long time childhood friend Alex Timm. He golfed collegiately at Concordia University. He was like a brother to me and he still continues to coach and develop my golf game. In the last two years I have had the opportunity to join “The Bushwood Golf’ league held weeklys on Sunday at Gross National. It is an honor to be a part of such a great group of men. My golfing career took off when I met Dave Bratland through coaching basketball together. He has been a great mentor and teacher of the game and he has developed my golf swing from 20 handicap down to single digits. He is one of the best teachers in the game without a doubt in my mind. Last but not least, my golfing career jump started when I started playing golf daily with Trip Bratland, he is my 2 man match play partner and being able to watch him play golf and golf beside him has fueled my fire to be the best golfer that I can be so that I can keep up with him.
Golf Highlights:
I just started playing golf seriously in 2020
Broke 80 three time in one week and in that week I posted a 79 and 78 on back to back days
I parked the volunteer buses as a job when the PGA Championship was hosted by Hazeltine in 2008
I had a chance to talk the Phil Mickleson and his caddy at the 3M in 2019
I was on the 18th green at Hazeltine when Y.E. Yang hit his shot into the green to put the dagger on Tiger Woods effort to charge back on that Sunday in 2008
Golf Heroes:
Rory Mcllroy is the same age as me and he has been one of the golfers I really enjoy watching. Seeing him succeed with so much class, poise, and character has pushed me to emulate his examples. Seeing his response when he failed to win The Masters with a commanding lead going into the final round on Sunday was inspirational. Being humble in defeat is so important in golf because the game is so challenging mentally. Some of my other heroes are but not limited to this list…
John Rahm, Justin Thomas, Ricky Fowler, Xander Scahuffele, Colin Morikawa, Tiger Woods, Jason Day, Phil Mickelson. Ernie Els, Arnold Palmer, Fred Couples to name a few…
Why did I join the Men’s Club?
My entire life revolves around sports and competition. Competing is something I enjoy doing no matter what activity it is. I joined the Gross Men’s Club because I was looking for a group of talented men that could push me to compete hard on the golf course. I am excited to say that this group has been the greatest group to be a part of and I am grateful that I am able to compete in events with all of these great players in the club!
