This is a reminder to register soon for our last Gross Men's Club Event of the year on Saturday, October 12!
The forecast right now looks great! Please click here to register online on Golf Genius.
U of MN players--please join us if you have the itch to play in one more event--there is plenty of room at the moment.
GMC Players--remember this is your last chance to earn Victor Cup points in that season-long race! The current ranking is attached. A little extra cash is on the line for guys finishing in the top 10, and perhaps up to the top 20 finishers. The current standings do not account for any points earned from either of the season-long match play tournaments. More info to come on that....
Remember the deadline to register is Tuesday, October 8 by 11 pm. Please see below of the rules of engagement for this fun, strategic, individual stroke-play event -- the BBW.
This event was a favorite golf format of our beloved Board President Paul Bussmann who we lost in 2021. He would spend hours trying to identify his ideal way to play his course for this event with spreadsheets and data, along with a handful of other members in years past.
Event Format:
This is an individual stroke play event in which you create your own course.
Players will play 6 holes from the Black Tees, 6 holes from the Blue Tees, and 6 holes from the White (forward) Tees.
Each Player will decide which holes they will play from each of the respective tee boxes--but players MUST PLAY SIX HOLES FROM EACH TEE BOX.
The Master of Events will determine how many flights will be provided--depending on the number of players who register for the event. Flights will be organized by player handicaps like always.
Winners awarded cash payouts and the final opportunity to earn Victor Cup Points will be determined by the BEST NET Scores in each flight
Optional Gross and Net Skins games will be available across the entire field of players.
The Master of Events will NOT post player scores from this event on behalf of the players since scores will be a result of each player playing from a random mix of tee boxes
Players who wish to play with specific other players are asked to indicate that on the registration form.
Players can also indicate if they need an early, late or have no time preference for their tee time. Note given the late season date, there is always a possibility of a delayed start because of frost in the early morning--so plan your schedule accordingly.
The Master of Events will do as much as possible to accommodate everyone's. Registering early helps ensure you get your first choice.

Local Rules -- Please Review
We think it would be good for everyone to review our local rules--just to refresh yourself on how to handle scoring situations on the course.
Generally I, along with a couple other Board Members (i.e. the rules committee) should be consulted if there's a question on how a situation should be scored at the end of your round of golf.
We strongly recommends players should refresh their memory about Rule 20.1c(3). Players can ALWAYS play two balls in stroke play and resolve the issue at the end of the round. But be sure to know the requirements associated with use of this two-ball rule and consequence.
For example, declaration of which ball they want to count MUST be specified before hitting either — if not done, the first ball played will generally be the one used for the score.
Second, and more important, players MUST report any use of 20.1c(3) to the Committee at the time they submit their card at the end of the round — failure to do so leads to DQ.
We advise players to take picture of the area in question to show to the Committee the situation.
Beware of the ground under repair (mostly along Hole 9 and 18) where trees were removed recently. Even though they are not marked/circled in white, you can take relief from those areas, no closer to the score. Make sure you ask your fellow players for consensus before taking the relief.
LOCAL RULES for 2024
Here’s a comprehensive description of all of our local rules for GMC events in 2022.
Take a few minutes to read through it and save it for future reference. It’s in the best interest of everyone for us to be familiar with these rules.
* ATTENTION U. of M. Club Members *
We are continuing our reciprocal relationship with the University of Minnesota Men's Club this year. U of M members are cordially invited to play in any of our weekend events (other than our Club Championship and Senior Championship) that are not on the same day as one of your events. (Victor Cup points will only be awarded to Gross Men’s Club members.)
We enjoy have you guys in our events and look forward to playing with you again this year!
