Hello, Gross Men's Club

The season is fast approaching and so this message serves as an initial communication about renewing your membership in the club (or joining for the first time as a new member).  The costs will be similar as in the past--based on your age and if you are a returning or new member -- please read the instructions carefully when registering.

If you are new to the club AND new to maintaining an official handicap, I will speak to you separately on how that works.

We will again register and pay online through Golf Genius like in the past year.  Please click here on the link that will take you to that event page.

We will be holding a registration meeting at the clubhouse on Saturday, April 5 from 10am to 12/Noon. Your board is meeting this Saturday to get prepared for that meeting which will be our opportunity to discuss changes with the upcoming season and answer any questions.

Attached is the 2025 schedule--you can play in as many or few of the events as your schedule allows.  Just like in the past, you register and pay for each event as it approaches and the emails will outline the deadlines.  I did coordinate with the U of MN Men's Club so our events are alternating.  If you are new, we have a reciprocol agreement with them so our players can play in their non-championship events and their members can join us for any of our non-championship events. I will send a separate email inviting you to register for our first event -- the Spring Warm Up (individual) Event on Saturday, April 12th.

I'll have Steve Date get the schedule and other relevant information on our website (grossmensclub.com -- and for the password protected areas use "wearegross".

New this year (or under consideration)

  • Providing a $25 gross medalist reward for the golfer playing from the Blue Tees who had the lowest gross score for the event (there won't be one for the 6-6-6 and scramble events)

  • senior 4-Man Team to compete against other clubs similar to the options of the Senior 8-Man and 12-Man teams.  This is for guys 70 years old and older.  If we have a team, it will be dependent on enough interest plus finding someone willing to be the captain of the team

  • We will again be using the premium version of Golf Genius system, so that's why there is an additional $35 cost for that noted in the registration. The benefit is it makes life much easier on Greg Mantras, our treasurer to handle registration and payments online.  It makes my life easier with running the event and you get live scoring on the golf genius mobile app.

  • We will again offer a couple of super early tee times for those guys who need to play early.  Please register early as always for each event.

There will be more information in the following days, but at least you can get started by registering for the season.  If you have any questions at all, please email me at scott.jax8@gmail.com.

Francis A. Gross Men’s Club

 New Member Information and Benefits

What is the purpose of the Gross Men’s Club?

The purpose of the Gross Men’s club is to organize an affordable public golf membership with the express purpose of providing a forum of competitive golf and fellowship for the exclusive benefit of its members.

Where do the members play?

We play at the Francis A. Gross Golf Course at 2201 St. Anthony Boulevard within minutes of downtown St Paul and Minneapolis. Gross is one of five public golf courses in the Minneapolis Park Board system and is considered one of the finest.

What is the cost to play in each monthly event?

Since we are a public golf course, we always pay our own green and cart fees and also pay the individual event fee of $20 - $35, depending on the event. These fees are collected by the Men’s club and then paid out to the various flight winners of the event in cash.   Lunch is included after your round in some events.  Events are scheduled on Saturday or Sunday Morning with preferred early morning tee times for our members. This is part of your membership benefit.
